    Band(s): Jean Michel Jarre

    BKP(s): Irish Tour

Claude Samard says: "I'm the lucky owner of an original '58 maple neck Strat which is fantastic for what it does but I wanted to have a rosewood neck custom Strat built for me by James Trussart as a more versatile instrument.

I first equipped it with 3 Lace sensors (Clapton model), then tried the Bardens but missed the real Fender Strat feel. That's when I tried the Bare knuckle Irish Tours and I got everything I needed : first a Strat sound with character, like the good L series from the early 60's , enough twang if needed and enough body and "meat" as well so that the sound is not "thin" and too harsh if used with a clean tube amp.

The other thing I appreciate is that the set is well balanced and has a kind of natural compression, so you can switch from one pick up to any other combination without having a problematic volume difference that would force to adjust the pedals settings

Darach O'Laoire says: "I've used Bare Knuckle Pickups exclusively since 2005. First the Stormy Monday humbucker pickup which gives fantastic body and resonance to my 7 string strat style guitar from clean jazz to overdriven metal. Since then I also started using the Brown Sugars which transformed my telecaster. It added a low end 'chunk' and punch which has stupefied anybody who has heard the guitar and frustrated some vintage telecaster owners."

The Black Hawk has the power of a humbucker and the clarity of a single coil, especially with the volume of the guitar backed off. I'm enjoying not having to change channels and just riding the volume on the guitar. This is one of the most versatile pickups I've ever played thru"

Agamoth Abgott says: "The Aftermath bridge and Painkiller neck are a lethal combination with an amazing versatile spectrum of sounds with tight bottom end, a very balanced mid range and crystal clear treble, perfect for a technical and extreme combination of guitar playing, from metal to blues rock.

The Holydiver set is the perfect solution for a more modern approach of the legendary '80s humbuckers, with more compact bass, fuller mids and richer treble, simply great for dynamic sounding solos and pounding heavy rhythms. Clean tones are warm and rich, and with a coil split, the percussive undertones really shine. Bare Knuckle makes some great pickups, but these are, by far, my hands-down favorite! We've tried to cover the full spectrum of what the Aftermaths are capable of, so we really hope you enjoy it.

We tried to throw in some tight riffs, heavy chugs, progressive chord voicings, ambient cleans, and some wicked solos with the bridge and neck configurations. This was initially an extended test clip for you guys to use, but is evolving into something more and will turn into a full-fledged song in all likelihood down the line - (Describing the Aftermath recording they?ve produced for BKP)

The VHII is the most musical bridge pickup I've used. It's girl-friendly, so even when you crank it up so it's screaming and breathing fire, it doesn't make anyone want to put their fingers in their ears. I was on stage with three other guitarists with my Rebel Yell loaded PRS Corvette.

It turned into a mush on stage with all those guitars, but the Rebel Yell still cut through. They sound great split, too, so the in-between positions on the PRS are as good as the humbuckers

Now whenever playing a guitar without BKPs I feel something missing from the experience. In my band, Red Seas Fire, we like to think that there is no type of sound we will exclude from our approach, as long as it suits the song, and I really feel that Bare Knuckle Pickups are the only products that will allow that in my guitars.

There is something for every sound you might want to create, and so many pickups that sound great no matter what you do with them, I think this is a pretty unique selling point for Bare Knuckle in comparison to other companies, and why as long as they are a functioning company, they will have my support

This was the first time I had used the Bare Knuckle bass pickups in anger, and I have to say they sounded absolutely awesome! Very clear and punchy low end with serious growl when required, and just the right amount of highs. Really great, and a real improvement over the previously fitted pickups, which were too scooped & bright for my taste.

I need strong, punchy fundamentals, clear and articulate mids, and good treble without too much "zingy" high end, and that's what the Bare knuckle J Bass pickups deliver.

The PKs are aggressive and great for down-tuned stuff, a tight bass and in your face tone. No ice pick, they cut very well in the mix. For metal, the PK are just that, killer pickups! My G. Rossington CS LP has been loaded with a set of VHIIs for years.

This is really the old VH tone, percussive and clear, yet enough output to also be used for rock and metal (killer for bluesy stuff as well). My 1970 LPC are loaded with a Cold Sweat/Mule combo. The Cold Sweat has a top end sparkle that cuts real nice. And the bass is tight, no mud, killer for hard riffing and down-tuned songs

Being more of a finger player they provide me with great dynamics and snap if needed. Clarity is also big deal if combining open strings in licks in overdrive mode. Tele: Blackguard Flat '50. For punchy and defined Tele snap bite, twang and grunt. In a good, light guitar they're unbeatable. Strat: PAT Pend '63. Sweet, clear and as smooth as honey, goodbye harshness and a shrill top end... Mounted with a BKP pre-wired pickguard they're sonic heaven.

They have truly helped craft our tone so much so that we're in the process of swapping all of our pickups for Bare knuckle ones. So far we've installed Aftermath sets in both our Ibanez RG1527s and Tony recently had a custom Aftermath / Painkiller set installed in his Ibanez RG2228 ... needless to say, they sound immense in 8-string guitars.

Thank you all again for making the new generation of musicians sound absolutely amazing and for changing the way people craft tones!

The Aftermaths are advertised as a clear, tight, and punchy pickup great for metal music, but I've realized that the good folks at Bare Knuckle Pickups aren't marketing them honestly as they're so much more than that. These pickups, hands down, are the most versatile pickups I've had the pleasure in playing and while they fully compliment metal, I've learned they are great for any genre. Thick, chunky, yet concise chords. Rich, soothing, and dynamic cleans. There's a reason they're called the Aftermaths; they utterly destroy everything and in the end, all that's left is ... well ... the aftermath

Although I'm obsessive about tone, I've been very unadventurous when it comes to pickups, tending to stick with what was in the guitar. But I had an issue with a 70's Strat which sounded good acoustically but was a right dog when plugged in.

I knew what I wanted tone wise, but had no idea which pickup would deliver it. I called BKP, was looked after right away and had a long phone conversation on what I wanted. I bought the Slow Hands. When I dropped them in the guitar I was blown away, they were the absolute embodiment of what I had described - they were magic and made my Strat come to life. The detail and weight in the tone was a truly beautiful thing.

I am now working with BKP to replace the Pups in all my Les Pauls. We take care, work slowly replacing one at a time and they have helped me realise the sounds in my head. BK pickups have an organic quality and a 'soul' that I have not heard anywhere else. Thank you BKP

The tone is smooth with great string definition and response, yet still plenty of twang when needed. I always use a vintage Vox ac30/4 with a Klon centaur drive pedal, nothing else in the chain so my guitar is doing all the work. It cleans up when I back the volume off and it breaks up wonderfully for solos when I crank it up"

It has the low end responsiveness needed when tuning as low as G sharp, without sacrificing any detail or clarity, no matter how driven the sound. When in the studio I had time to further test its abilities, and found it to be just as pleasing for lower gain, more subtle applications. It's both a sledgehammer and feather.
