ok so I spent some time this afternoon recording a soundclip of my rig playing some Ozzy so I might as well post it here - surprising how versatile Mules are.

* 1991 LP std loaded with double creme Mules
* MI Audio Crunchbox
* '76 Marshall Superbass with master volume mod.
* Marshall 4x12 with 55Hz cone G12H-30s
* SM57 into my old Tascam cassette 4-track
* Ozzy track from my old vinyl

I've mixed my guitar hard left so you can hear the Mules loud and proud.  The playing isn't great, some of the timing is off and I didn't learn the riffs properly - pretty much winging it but you'll get the idea, enjoy!

Man this sounds sick!

I love the tone, how loud was it? How much of the overdrive you reckon came from the amp?

I'd love to play with your rig  :roll:

I really liked your tone, I bet you could get a good Dokken sound too

I had the amp's gain on 8 which puts you in Free territory - the Crunchbox is doing the rest.

The amp wasn't that loud at all - room volume, between 1 and 2 on the master.

Mic placement is the key imo.

Nice one matey - sounds a bit like my Crunch Box does though my Klipps.  A great pedal, nice playing and top tone!

Must be the day for recording Ozzy clips  ;)

This sounds really good, similar to the tone I was getting when I used the Crunch Box with my Laney/G12H setup!

I'd love to hear the Superbass by itself doing the Free type stuff, the only other superbass I've heard is this big thick fuzzy tone on www.myspace.com/blacktoedown

Sounds quality, very good Ozzy tone! You would be better than Zakk Wylde ahaha.

HTH,

Do youfind that the Crunch Box muds up when you roll the volume down on the guitar?  That's the only think I don't like about the pedal...

do you mean the volume of MY guitar parts is too low? - just set the balance control on windows volume console towards my guitar part rather than the backing track which is mixed in the opposite speaker.

thanks for the comments too - hails!!!  :lol:

Joe, lmao, if only that were true - Zakk is a monster player, I'd have to practice for the next twenty years solid to get upto his standard (yikes!)

Twinfan, I've not really played with the pedal enough to notice it getting muddy with the guitar's volume roled down.  Maybe a bright cap on your guitar would help with that.

It's not the guitar matey, it's the pedal.  Straight into the amp my guitars are fine (50s style wiring retaining highs), and also via my Box of Rock they're fine too.  I think it's a feature of the Crunch Box.  Not a problem if you're an "all on full" kinda guy and use pedals for boosts/solos.  I use the volume a lot though...
